The northbound stretch past Berthoud and Johnstown is wide open and takes crosswinds hard in winter, which is a real argument for a heavy vehicle and a driver who runs the road every week.

Is a car service worth it against a rental?

If you are staying in Fort Collins and not driving daily, usually yes. You skip the rental counter, the return, and the parking.
