Yampa Valley Regional Airport sits in Hayden, about 23 miles west of Steamboat Springs. The whole trip is a straight run east on US 40 along the Yampa River and it takes around 30 to 35 minutes. There is no pass and no mountain grade on this route. It is the closest airport to Steamboat by a wide margin, which is exactly why it fills up on winter Saturdays.

The Yampa Valley gets fog and heavy snow, and when it does, inbound flights sometimes divert to Denver or Grand Junction instead of landing at Hayden. If that happens to you, call us. We would rather reposition and drive you in from wherever you actually landed than leave you stranded at a counter three hours from your lodging. Steamboat splits into two places that both call themselves Steamboat. The mountain base at the gondola is where most of the condos and the slopeside hotels are. Old Town runs along Lincoln Avenue about three miles north and it is where the restaurants, the Old Town Hot Springs and most of the character live. They are a ten minute drive apart. Tell us which one you are staying in when you book, and if you want a stop at Strawberry Park Hot Springs on the way in, just say so.
