4 Eagle Ranch Wedding Transportation
Take exit 157 off Interstate 70 at Wolcott, turn north on CO 131, and four miles later the ranch entrance is on your right. The highway is paved the whole way. What it does not have is any shoulder lighting, and that single fact shapes how we run a 4 Eagle Ranch wedding more than anything else about the property.
Wolcott has no hotels. Apart from the glamping cabins on the ranch itself, every guest is sleeping in Vail, Avon, Beaver Creek or Edwards, which puts 200 or 300 people on the same stretch of dark two lane highway at the same time once the band stops. We have been driving to and from the ranch since 2021, around twenty runs so far, most of them guest transfers rather than weddings, and the one thing every driver says afterward is that the trip home is the part to plan carefully.
Four miles of Highway 131 after dark
Going up in daylight is simple. Coming down after the reception is slower and more deliberate, and the return schedule allows for it. For a Vail block the ride is about 30 minutes each way in summer. Beaver Creek is closer to 22, Avon 18, and Eagle County Regional Airport is only 20 minutes away, which is why so many 4 Eagle guests fly into EGE rather than Denver.
Winter adds a second layer. The ranch sells sleigh ride weddings from November through March, and the ranch roads inside the entrance ice over. Every van and SUV we send up is all wheel drive, which handles the surface, but icy ranch roads still cost minutes, so a January timeline gets more cushion than a July one.
One lot, several buildings, and sleigh rides using the same space
The pavilion seats up to 499. There is also the Sawatch Mountain View Deck by the pond, the historic cabin, the event barn and the homestead house, and each one unloads in a different spot off the big flat ranch lot. We confirm the drop point for your specific spaces with the planner the week before, because a pavilion wedding and a deck ceremony are not the same drop.
That lot is also where the sleigh rides, chuckwagon dinners and the Collective Vail retreat guests park, and reviewers describe guest parking as very limited on days when the ranch is running more than one thing. We assume guests ride and size the fleet that way. The property is handicap accessible, and an SUV can carry any guest who needs a door to door run from their hotel room to the pavilion steps.
Why we schedule departures instead of a loop
A loop works when the ride is five minutes. At 30 minutes out, a van that leaves Vail at 3:00 is not back for a second load until after 4:00, so a loop just means guests standing in a lobby waiting. For 200 guests in a Vail Village block we would rather put five Sprinters on two scheduled departures each, 40 minutes apart, with every guest told a time. That fills roughly 70 seats per wave and has the room seated in about an hour and a half. For 300 guests, plan on seven or eight vans, or split them between Vail and Avon if the block is spread down valley.
On the return we stage every vehicle in the ranch lot before the last song, parked wherever ranch staff direct. The first van goes as soon as it fills. The rest hold until the final group is loaded so the last departure goes down CO 131 together.
Airport runs are the other half of a ranch weekend. With EGE only 20 minutes from the ranch, most arriving guests land at Eagle County and ride to their hotel along the Eagle County Airport to Vail lane, and we move the wedding party between the on site cabins and town as needed.
If 4 Eagle Ranch is where you are getting married, request an event quote, including your hotel list and ceremony time. Our wedding transportation page covers how we handle the rest of the weekend.
