The Hythe Wedding Transportation

We have driven to and from The Hythe more than 140 times since 2022, mostly airport runs for hotel guests, which makes it the Vail hotel our drivers know best from behind the wheel. That matters, because weddings at The Hythe are the biggest in town. The former Vail Marriott at 715 West Lionshead Circle has 343 rooms and about 29,000 square feet of event space: a Grand Ballroom for 1,000, a Colorado Ballroom for 500, and a Mountain View Patio and Lower Pool Deck that seat 300 or hold 450 standing. Numbers like that mean guests arriving in waves from two airports all week and leaving together when the band stops.

The circle off the South Frontage Road

Of the Lionshead hotels, The Hythe is the one a driver is happiest to see on the manifest. Its porte cochere opens onto West Lionshead Circle, which connects directly to the South Frontage Road West, so a Sprinter comes off the interstate, swings into the circle and is at the door without ever touching the pedestrian mall. The entrance takes a 14 seat Mercedes Sprinter without any jockeying and the circle feeds cleanly back out to the frontage road. The hotel does not publish its parking or valet terms, so ask your planner how self parking works before guests decide to drive.

In January the circle is slick. All of our vans and SUVs are all wheel drive for mornings like that.

A ballroom for a thousand changes the arithmetic

Most couples here fill the hotel, so the ceremony and reception need no shuttle at all. The vehicles earn their keep around the edges of the weekend. A 300 guest wedding usually looks like this on our dispatch board:

  • Thursday and Friday: airport arrivals in ones and fours, Eagle County Regional about 38 minutes out, Denver a longer haul over the pass.
  • Friday night: a welcome party in Vail Village, about 4 minutes by road. Three Sprinters loop between the porte cochere and the Vail Village parking structure from 45 minutes before the party until 90 minutes after it, roughly 42 people per lap.
  • Saturday: two Sprinters for the 50 or so guests who ended up in Avon or Beaver Creek, about 13 and 18 minutes away, leaving an hour before the ceremony and running a late return when the music ends.
  • Sunday: airports again, in reverse.

One thing we have learned at this property: size the vehicle count from the real headcount, not the room block. The Grand Ballroom holds far more people than the hotel has beds.

Eagle Bahn is a walk from the lobby

The Eagle Bahn Gondola loads a short walk through Lionshead from The Hythe, which is why a ceremony at the Holy Cross Event Deck pairs well with a reception back at the hotel. Vail Resorts runs the gondola; we handle the guests who are staying in Vail Village and need to reach the base before the load, and we meet them again at the circle after the download if the party is somewhere other than Lionshead.

Tell us the headcount, where the rooms are and what each night holds, and we will put the right number of vans on each day. Start by sending us the basics and request an event quote. Our wedding transportation page describes a typical wedding day with us, and the Denver Airport to Vail lane covers guests landing in Denver.
