Holy Cross Event Deck Wedding Shuttles

There is no road to the Holy Cross Event Deck. The deck, also sold as the Vail Wedding Deck, sits on a plateau at the top of Vail Mountain near Eagle's Nest with a 360 degree view and brick benches for 180. Guests get there on the Eagle Bahn Gondola from Lionshead, and for some groups a golf cart covers the last bit from the gondola to the benches. The resort runs all of that. What we run is the ground underneath it, and on a deck wedding the ground has two legs that are easy to underplan.

Five ceremony slots and a gondola that keeps its own time

Ceremonies happen at 10:30, 12:30, 2:30, 4:30 or 6:30, mid June to mid September, outdoors only. The slot is fixed, the gondola ride takes a while, and the queue at the base takes longer when 150 people in dress shoes arrive at once. So the ground plan is built backward from the slot: guests standing at the Lionshead base well before the resort wants to start loading them, not pulling up as the first cabin leaves.

West Lionshead Circle is the real pickup point

The Eagle Bahn loads in the Lionshead pedestrian mall, which no vehicle enters. The drop is West Lionshead Circle, off the South Frontage Road, followed by a short walk through the mall to the gondola. The circle is a loading lane shared with the Lionshead hotels, including The Hythe, so our drivers unload and clear it rather than sit in it. From Vail Village the leg to the circle is about 4 minutes; Avon is around 13, Beaver Creek Village around 18 and Eagle County Regional Airport about 38.

Guests for a deck wedding stay in Lionshead or Vail Village. A Lionshead guest walks. A Vail Village guest rides. For 60 village guests and a 4:30 slot, two Mercedes Sprinters, 14 seats each, make timed runs from the Vail Village parking structure that land at the circle 75 and then 50 minutes before the load.

The leg after the ceremony

This is the one that gets left off the spreadsheet. The deck is ceremony only, so after the vows the entire group downloads together and 150 people are standing at the Lionshead base. Where they go next decides whether we are needed at all. If the reception is at Arrabelle Square or the Great Room, it is a walk across the square. If it is at Eagle's Nest, nobody comes down until the night ends. If it is at The Lodge at Vail, 150 people need to get across to Vail Village, and for that we stage four Sprinters at the circle and move 56 per lap on a 4 minute leg, clearing the group in roughly 20 minutes.

Tell us the reception venue before anything else, because it determines whether this is a one leg job or two. Our whole fleet is all wheel drive, which matters less on a July afternoon than it does for the September 6:30 slot when the weather turns.

Send the ceremony slot, the reception site and the hotels your guests are in and we will build both legs. From here, request an event quote, read how we handle wedding transportation, and point flying guests at the Denver Airport to Vail lane.
