The 10th Wedding Shuttles
There is no road to The 10th. The lodge sits at Mid Vail at the top of Gondola One, and the only way up is in a gondola cabin, which Vail Resorts includes in the wedding package. So the transportation plan for a wedding here is really a plan for a gondola base: getting 180 people from their hotels to the right bottom terminal on time, and collecting them after the last download when it is dark and the pedestrian village has gone quiet.
Gondola One or Eagle Bahn
Two gondolas reach the mountain. Gondola One loads on Gore Creek Drive in Vail Village next to The Lodge at Vail, inside the pedestrian core where no vehicle can go. For that base our drop is the Vail Village parking structure or Vail Road, followed by a few minutes on foot. The Eagle Bahn Gondola loads in Lionshead and can also reach The 10th; there the drop is West Lionshead Circle or the Lionshead parking structure. The resort decides which base your group uses, and we route to match whatever your planner confirms. Guests with hotels in Vail Village usually walk to Gondola One, and Lionshead guests walk to Eagle Bahn.
Build the schedule backward from the load time
The resort gives you a gondola load time and everything we do keys off it. Picture 180 guests with 120 staying in Vail Village and 60 in Avon, Beaver Creek or elsewhere in the valley. Avon is about 15 minutes from the base, Beaver Creek Village about 20, Eagle County Airport about 40. The 60 ride two of our 14 passenger Mercedes Sprinters on set departures that reach the drop 60 and 40 minutes before loading, which leaves time for the walk and the lift queue. Both the deck ceremony and the indoor reception are up top, so the vans go off the clock until the download begins.
For the return, the last cabin down fixes the time. We have both vans at the drop before the download starts and run a loop to Lionshead and the valley hotels until the base is empty, because people come off a gondola in bunches, not all at once. Our Sprinters and SUVs run all wheel drive year round and are never pooled with another party.
Winter is a different day
The 10th hosts weddings from late June to late September and again from late November to March. In winter the ceremony is held off the mountain, so the day touches a second site and a second drop, and the walk from the van to Gondola One is on packed snow. Tell guests to wear shoes they can stand up in, and give us the ceremony site as well as the load time so the vans are in the right place twice.
Send us the gondola load time, the hotels and the number of guests outside Vail Village and we will build the ground side. Then request an event quote. Our wedding transportation page covers the rest, and guests flying into Denver ride our Denver Airport to Vail lane.
